A total of 98 competitors took part in the February monthly medal on Saturday. Conditions were far from easy, with a miserable drizzle sweeping across the course for much of the morning. It meant that there was some high scoring, with no fewer than 31 players also failing to return their cards, nine in division one and 22 in division two. Two players who made light of the difficulties, however, were Viv John, who clinched the medal in division one, and Stephen Poole, who was the medal winner in division two. In fact, Poole's net score of 69 (off a handicap of 16) was the best of the day and eclipsed the rest of the field in his section. Prize-winners in the two sections were as follows: Division One (35 competitors): Vivian John 79-8-71 (medal and £33.60 credit); John Gottwaltz 76-4-72 (£25.20); Jack Guerreiro 77-3-74 (£16.80); Ben Price 81-5-76, last nine (£8.40). Division Two (63 competitors): Stephen Poole 85 -16-69 (medal and £33.60 credit); Phillip Keating 87-13-74, last nine (£25.20); Ceiran Slyne 91-17 -74, last nine (£16.80); John Tasker 89-15-74 (£8.40). Twos: Paul Fairclough, Chris Hughes, Alan E. James, Richard Reed, Simon Toy, Jerry Whitehouse (£16.50 each). Bag draw: I. J. Thomas, P. Heywood, M. Tucker, M. Mosely (£19.20 each).
