To perform at the Royal Albert Hall, London, is a dream of many musicians.
This dream will become a reality for the players of the Pembrokeshire Schools' Jazz Ensemble on Monday, November 3, when under the leadership of their musical director, Gareth Sanders, they will open the Schools' Prom Concert in London.
Since its formation five years ago, the band has performed in Manchester, London and Waterford, as well as being in demand at many local venues.
The band is made up of 22 young instrumentalists and singers from the secondary schools in Pembrokeshire and is one of the many ensembles organised by Pembrokeshire's County Council Music Service.
Said county music co-ordinator, Chris Llewellyn: "This is the highest honour that can be given to any youth music group in Britain. These young people will probably never play in a more prestigious event or venue."
The leader of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Maurice Hughes, will be attending the event: "I am looking forward to the concert immensely," he said. "It will be a very proud moment for the people of Pembrokeshire to be represented at such a prestigious national event."
