There have been celebrations at a Pembrokeshire hotel after news was received that it had achieved the highest accolade under the Wales Tourist Board's (WTB) new Business Class Award Scheme. The Lamphey Court Hotel, near Pembroke, was given the platinum award for both its bedrooms and meeting spaces in recognition of the outstanding business tourism facilities on offer. The initiative, launched at the end of last year, grades conference venues and hotels according to the standard of business facilities on offer with either a silver, gold or platinum award. Since then, assessors have been independently visiting establishments across Wales to judge precisely how business-friendly they are. Out of these, eight have been given the platinum award for both their bedrooms and meeting spaces. Pat Crimp, WTB's head of marketing and commercial operations, said: "The scheme, the first of its kind to be launched by any UK tourist board, is designed to make it as easy as possible for conference organisers to check out a venue before they check in. It provides them with a guide specifically aimed towards their needs so that they can book with complete confidence. "To gain a platinum award for either the bedrooms or the meeting spaces available is an achievement in itself. To gain the top award for both is really something to be proud of."
