Pictured is Able Cadet Tommy D'Ortez, of Penally, sailing to victory in Portsmouth in the Sea Cadets National Laser competition for Great Britain. He had previously won the West Wales Laser class, reported earlier this month. Tommy competed against Laser sailors from Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales, beating over 280 nationwide Cadet Units to win the weekend-long championship and bring the honours to Tenby unit. Tommy, of the Tenby Sea Cadets and a pupil of the Greenhill Sixth Form, recently crewed in the National Redwing Championships in Looe, Cornwall, gaining third overal,l and is currently a member of the Welsh National Sailing Squad.
