Pembrokeshire’s Civic Amenity and Recycling Centres are changing their opening hours next month.

From October 1st, the sites will operate new winter opening hours.

All six will be closed for two weekdays per week – although the nearest alternative site will always be open should users need them.

All sites will remain open at weekends, although Sundays will operate on reduced hours.

All sites will revert to being open seven days a week during the summer.

Winsel (on the old Hakin Road, Haverfordwest) Crane Cross (near Saundersfoot) and Manorowen near Fishguard/Goodwick will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Hermon, St Davids and Waterloo in Pembroke Dock will close on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Environmental and Regulatory Services, said savings needed to be made in the face of budgetary pressures.

“We did not take the decision to close these sites for two days a week lightly,” he said.

“Before we made any decisions, we looked at historic data counts at each site and consulted the public, which resulted in several changes to the original proposals.

“For instance people told us that they would prefer any closures in the winter to take place on quieter weekdays rather than at weekends.

“We have also ensured that if a site is closed on a particular day, a nearby site is open so that users can always dispose of material on any specific day.”
