Sir, It may be fortuitous that Clr. Mike Evans privately purchased the Cobourg estate in Frog Street and has subsequently presented the people of Tenby with the unique opportunity of seeing a large section of the inside of the town wall, unrevealed for over 150 years. It may surprise and delight the councillor who represents Tenby on his local council, the county council and the National Park Committee that he now has the opportunity to give effect to the Piran Declaration, adopted at the eighth Symposium of the Walled Towns Friendship Circle which was ratified by the Tenby Town Council in 1998 (Walled Towns are unique inheritances from times long past and should be treasured, maintained and safeguarded from neglect, damage and destruction and passed on into perpetuity as irreplaceable 'Timestones of History'). In realistic terms, I cannot envisage sufficient funds being collected to buy out the present developers, but I do hope that their plans can be slightly modified to incorporate a public right of way which will allow the sight of these 'Timestones of History' for the present and future generations.

Peter L. Osborne MBE, Honorary Life President, Walled Towns Friendship Circle,
