A Ford Ranger four-wheel drive, which is used for litter picking and emptying rubbish bins, became trapped between Saundersfoot and Coppett Hall on Monday morning.

Beach cleaners regularly drive across the sand between the two beaches when the tide is low.

Early on Monday morning, however, as a maintenance worker made his way across from Saundersfoot to Coppet Hall, the vehicle got stuck in some soft sand.

The employee ran back to Saundersfoot to get help from his workmates, but when they arrived back on the scene, the tide was coming back in over the vehicle.

So, they decided it would be easier and safer if they left the vehicle where it was until the tide went back out.

The rising tide pushed the vehicle onto rocks, from where it was safely recovered around midday.

Tenby's inshore lifeboat was launched and stood by as an effort was made to tow the vehicle away from the tide.

The vehicle is currently in the council's maintenance workshop at Thornton.
