Tenby will once again be rocking this November when the award-winning Blues Festival takes place in venues all over town.
The organisers recently announced the artists due to perform at the ticketed venues - the De Valence, Church House and the Fourcroft Hotel - with tickets due to go on sale later this month. But don’t delay as last year most of these shows sold out well in advance. This year will undoubtedly be no exception as the performers booked are some of the most exciting you will see and hear, not only in the UK, but worldwide.
The Friday and Saturday De Valence headliners both hail from the cradle of the Blues, the USA, and offer very different takes on the genre. On Friday, Lightnin’ Willie and the Poorboys will bring their slide guitar driven mix of raw blues and rock ‘n’ roll to the party and on Saturday, the Reverend Shawn Amos will be delivering his more mellow and soulful take on the Blues.
Sunday night’s headliner, Kyla Brox, is one of the outstanding female vocalists on the UK scene. A multi-nominated performer in the British Blues Awards, she’ll be fronting a dynamic band that doesn’t let up on the energy and passion. You might want to dance!
Support acts for all three ticketed venues read like a who’s who of British Blues - from the Scottish punk-blues of Dave Arcari, through the Blues rock of critically acclaimed newcomers Catfish, to a unique collaboration, exclusive to the festival, of a fabulous pair of Welsh singer songwriters Bella Collins and Jodie Marie. Plus as they say, many many more.
Then of course there’s the legendary Tenby Blues Trail which takes place on the Saturday and Sunday at cafes, hotels, bars, and restaurants all over town and is completely free. A couple of dozen acts will be strutting their stuff, slapping their planks, and generally making merry for music lovers of all persuasions. The festival will be welcoming back regulars like Glas, Hideaway Trio, John Lewis, and Christopher Rees plus offering debut gigs from the likes of the Luke Doherty Band and Ian Cal Ford and his Acoustic Preachers. From full on Blues to all of its near relations - rockabilly, country, singer/songwriter, rock - its all there for your delectation.
Tickets will go on sale later this month. Full information is available at www.tenbyblues.co.uk and the festival can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
