Pembrokeshire U10s had their third victory in a row against Cardiff and the Vale in a thrilling match, winning with a ball to spare.

County captain for the day, Master Thomas Murphy, lost the toss and the team were asked to field first on a decent track.

Captain Murphy opened the bowling with real pace, without the luck of taking a wicket. Backing him up at the other end was Kieran O'Connor, taking 1 for 11 in his four-over spell.

Sean Coaker also bowled with accuracy and took a wicket, while Ben Palin and Jac Waters bowled with precission. Other wicket-takers on the day were Toby Poole and Oliver Richards with one apiece. Making his debut, young Iori Hicks bowled his medium pace, containing the Cardiff batsmen with debut figures of 0 for 11 in his four overs.

Excellent keeping by Liam Cullen was the difference in taking the ball, with two excellent run outs in the field by Oliver Richards and Toby Poole which finished the Cardiff innings on 110 for 6 in their 35 overs.

Opening the innings for Pembrokeshire were young James Davies, of Burton, and Haverfordwest prospect, Kieran Griffiths, who got the innings off to a good start, but then both got out cheaply, followed by Kieran O'Connor.

Toby Poole from Kilgetty came to the crease with the score on 27 for 3. Poole continued his recent excellent form and carried his bat through until the 34th over, with excellent support from Tom Murphy, who aggressively hit a quick 11 runs with two boundaries.

Jac Waters showed his club form and batted brilliantly until a direct hit ran him out with a few overs to go. Debutant Hicks played very straight and supported Poole with determination until he was bowled, while Ben Palin supported the innings well at the end. Poole eventually lost concentration on the last ball of the 34th over for joint top score of 11.

Oliver Richards and Tom Hughes stayed composed and on the fifth ball of the final over, Richards played a late cut and the speed of Tom Hughes saw them scramble the winning run to see the boys keep up their unbeaten form of the season, with a thrilling game for the crowd with a ball to spare and seeing Pembrokeshire to victory.
