TWO exhibitions opening at Oriel Q, Narberth, tomorrow (Saturday), are unusual, refreshing, thought-provoking and very beautiful.

One of the artists exhibiting is Avi Allen, whose collection shows her superb drawing skills, and her confident and sophisticated use of space shows a maturity and talent beyond her years.

"My work is concerned with an ongoing engagement with the language of drawing and its place within contemporary artistic practice," said Avi.

"For me, drawing becomes a site in which to explore and celebrate notions of closeness, mutuality, open ended conversations - glimpses into moments of becoming."

Avi finished her degree at West Wales School of Art last year and was chosen to exhibit in the Eisteddfod in August.

"It is a pleasure to give this young artist her first solo exhibition and I'm confident she will be a great success," said the gallery's Lynne Cromption.

In Oriel Fach, Amy Scott, who also left college last year, has created a beautiful installation called 'Over to You'.

"The installation is an expression of my delight in the world I see and recognition of my helplessness before natural and man-made disasters," said Amy.

You are invited to sit and contemplate while images of the day are projected in between her lovely hangings.

Again it's a thought-provoking exhibition of high quality, and visitors to the gallery will be well rewarded both visually and spiritually.

There are also excellent black and white photographs on the stairs by various artists, so it's well worth making the effort to go and see for yourself such high quality work that you don't have to travel to the city for.

The gallery is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm.
