If Matthew Evans crosses the finish line in Tenby on September 16, he will be the first person to have completed the three toughest Iron distance triathlons in the world in the same year!
And to add to the twist, he will be racing in Wales in the Captain Cymru outfit to raise money for the RNLI.
To date this year, Matthew has completed Ironman Lanzarote, The Norseman and now the scene is set for Wales.
Matthew said: "Lanzarote was always hailed the toughest Ironman, but when Wales was introduced to the calendar last year, it certainly shared, if not stole, that crown!
"Norseman is in a league of its own and a completely different experience. It is by far the toughest race I have ever done and probably will ever do! Two weeks ago I flew out to Reykjavik to help pace a friend on the marathon and now I am pretty shot! But an opportunity to take part in a race we brought to the country cannot be passed up and if I can raise some funds for the RNLI along the way - then it can only be good for Tenby."
He continued: "The RNLI have been hugely supportive of us over the past few years and the more you learn about what they do and how they are funded, the more important it is that we support them in anyway possible. They are an incredible outfit, funded purely from donations and the role they play in our community is not only essential, but hugely honorable as well.
"Bringing Ironman to Wales was a massive achievement for me and the team and not many people can say they organised a race then raced the race!
"This year, the WTC are running the entire operation and we wish them all the very best in the lead up to and during the race.
"Just to see the amount of local people taking part is emotional in its own right. Sport can do incredible things, and this race will inspire not only the younger generation, but nearly everyone in some way or another. You just need to ask the 20 or so locals who are racing this year - some of whom last year did not even own a bike!"
Matthew added: "Personally, I am shattered, hence the fancy dress and enjoying the day, but it will be incredible to see everyone out on course and naturally the finish is always a very special place on race day!
"The challenge of swimming 2.4 miles with a cape on under the wetsuit is yet to be refined, but I think its simply a man-up moment and get on with it! It won't be fast, it will be tough, but the kids love the cape coming from the wetsuit on the beach - which in races like this is more important than knocking 10 minutes or so off the time.
"We have a couple of practice swims pencilled in this week and if it is possible to swim with the cape - as it's quite heavy and very heavy when wet - then rest assured I will swim in the cape!"
And Matthew concluded: "May I wish everyone racing, organising and watching all the very best on race day, especially the RNLI who will also be providing the support for the swimmers on race day.
