The forthcoming National Adoption Week is highlighting the need for more families to adopt children.

Adoption Mid and West Wales is asking families in Pembrokeshire to contact them if they are interested in adoption.

The regional consortium has adoption teams not only in Pembrokeshire, but in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Powys.

The regional approach unites experienced and successful adoption services for the benefit of all those involved.

National Adoption Week this year runs from October 16-22.

Pembrokeshire County Council’s cabinet member for social services, Tessa Hodgson, said that in Pembrokeshire there was a need for more adoptive families in order to provide permanent loving homes for some of our most vulnerable children.

She urged anyone who might be interested to contact Adoption Mid and West Wales either through the website or by telephone.

Clr. Hodgson added: “During National Adoption Week there will be media coverage of some current issues in adoption including trauma and attachment.

“The focus this year is on siblings and efforts to keep them together.”
