Last Monday after running a busy and enjoyable coffee morning, the Tenby Project headed up to Tenby Museum to start finding out about people from Tenby’s history.

Not only was the coffee morning a friendly place for people living nearby to meet up for a coffee and a chat, but it is a place where new friendships can be made as well as old ones renewed. The Tenby Project loves seeing new people coming along to the coffee morning, and does their best to make everyone welcome.

After cooking toasted sandwiches for lunch, everyone walked through a hectic Tenby town centre up to Tenby Museum. It was lovely to be joined there by John and Helen. Glyn the heritage officer told everyone about Peggy Davies, who was a bathing lady 200 years ago when people felt the need to be assisted to dunk themselves in the cold sea water from the steps of a bathing machine. This was done, not for enjoyment, but as a healthy activity to help prevent illness. Poor Peggy must have spent every day in the cold sea water helping all her rich clients in and out! Everyone enjoyed finding out about Peggy and getting the chance to create their own piece of art showing her and the bathing machine.

Back at Augustus Place Community Hall, activities for September were planned. This Monday, despite it being a bank holiday, there will be a coffee morning as usual, and then a party as decided on for every time there is a fifth Monday in the month! Everyone is welcome to join us for the coffee morning - £1 for tea or coffee and biscuits, and £1 for a raffle ticket. Anyone who wishes to is also welcome to join the party in the afternoon!
