Sadly, the curtain has come down on Tenby Rock 'n' Roll Club.

Lack of support, together with county council rules on employing bouncers for live events, means the end of the line for the once popular club.

Over the last few months, people coming to the sessions at the RAOB Club in Kilgetty have fallen away. The organisers had hoped to reverse the process by having more live acts.

Unfortunately, to comply with county council rules, this meant hiring security door staff.

This applies even for the orderly Tenby Rock 'n' Roll Club, which has never had even a cross word spoken in its three-year history.

The club said in a statement: "We're unhappy with rules which call for security door staff. With the increasing price of bands and this futile burden to bear, we found it difficult to carry on.

"Unless rules on door staff are relaxed, we can sadly see other live entertainments folding in the Tenby area."

Members of the Tenby club are invited to attend other excellent rock 'n' roll and jive clubs in the area - based at the Dairy Club in Whitland and in Hook.

The club would like to thank their regulars for their support. As well as the very helpful RAOB committee, who invited the organisers to use their excellent dance venue.
