FORGET Eastenders - it's Haverfordwest, which is at the centre of the latest soap opera drama. A team of young writers has developed scripts for a soap opera to be broadcast on the internet. 'Here And Now' is about the life and times of a teenage Ha'rford girl, Poppy John. Her story has been brought to life by members of Pembrokeshire Library Service's Writers Squad. Their scriptwriting skills have been developed over the last six months in a series of workshops led by scriptwriter Dan Anthony. The scripts were recorded on Saturday when well- known actors Gillian Elisa and Richard Nichols joined local actors from the Torch Youth Theatre. "We started in the library with a blank page and worked forward from that," said Dan Anthony. "The young writers in the group have been brilliant. They've created characters, story-lines and great scripts." The Writers Squad was set up by the county council's library service last year to encourage children to express themselves through writing, be it poetry, prose or lyrics. Once a term, professional writers covering a wide variety of skills lead writing sessions at the library to help the youngsters develop their talents. If you're interested in joining the squad, contact Pam Harry, young people's librarian, on 01437 779920 or Christine Willison, arts officer, on 01437 775246. Poppy's adventures will be broadcast on http://www.radiowaves.co.uk">www.radiowaves.co.uk
