A dramatised version of Tenby's most notorious historical homicide will be seen on stage at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven later this month.

Thomas Athoe, Mayor of Tenby in 1722, was hanged in London the following year for his part in the brutal murder at Penally of George Marchant.

This gory episode is one of 10 Pembrokeshire murders featured in 'The Music Hall of Murder' to be performed by the Pembroke-based Eastend Flyover Company in the Torch Studio on November 27, 28 and 29.

First performed to sell-out audiences at the Pembroke Festival in July, the show has been scripted by Keith Johnson, of Cresswell Quay, a writer and local historian whose previous plays include the Welsh western 'Diawatha' and 'The Carol Police' which won the top award at Tenby Arts Festival international Pint-sized Plays competition for 2011.

Musical director is Helen Hodges, of Lamphey, and the five-piece band for the show features the squeezebox talents of George Whitfield, of Narberth - better known as one half of the popular folk duo Fiddlebox.
