Sir,

May I congratulate Mr. William McNamara on his brilliant plans for a holiday village with all seasons and wet-weather facilities.

For more than 20 years in the Observer and other newspapers I have been campaigning for inclement weather facilities for our area, especially during the holiday season. I believe that Mr. McNamara's 'Bluestone' project will go a long way towards solving what so far has been the missing link in our tourist infrastructure.

I have always maintained that as far as Tenby and district is concerned, there is little to do when it rains, except go for a walk round 'Woolies' or visit a pub or cafe.

When the clouds gather and it is not the kind of day for the beach, the plans for indoor activities, including a tropical water feature, will be a godsend to our thousands of often disgruntled visitors who have wandered aimlessly round the streets or had to travel as far as Swansea to find something enjoyable to do.

Like Heatherton, his facilities will be enjoyed, too, by locals throughout the year.

As he says: "What is planned is not just another Centre Parcs." He is providing a new experience for visitors to Pembrokeshire and, bearing in mind his expertise and proven success at Oakwood, we can expect only the best.

Everyone will benefit and certainly the local job prospects will be improved. Such an enterprise will provide a great deal of ancillary work and services and set our tourist industry on the road to prosperity for many years to come.

We cannot afford to lose this opportunity and there must be no hold-ups. It is a winner we need.

Above all else, Mr. McNamara will remove the uncertainty from the British climate, and provide a thriving tourist facility for all seasons.

Mike Evans,

St. Florence.
