The 2009 Tour of Pembrokeshire has now been officially launched! The Tour of Pembrokeshire, classed as a cyclosportive, will take place on Sunday, June 7.

Riders can choose to ride either a 100km or 200km course, with both routes taking in the stunning Pembrokeshire countryside and coastline.

As well as local riders, the 2008 event attracted cyclists from across the UK with post race comments focusing on great organisation, the Pembrokeshire scenery and, of course, all those hills!

Bryan Jones, chairman, commented: "From reaction on the day and the subsequent feedback, it is very apparent that our 2008 sportive was a success. As organisers, we are of course delighted, and thank all those who took part, more than 500 registered riders. It was also a wonderful result to raise the incredible sum of £12,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance."

Registration is via the event website, http://www.tourofpembrokeshire.co.uk">www.tourofpembrokeshire.co.uk where there's also plenty of information available about the routes, cycling tips, Wales Air Ambulance sponsorship forms etc. A video preview of the ride can be seen at http://www.cyclosport.org">www.cyclosport.org

Mike Ashbridge, of Wales Air Ambulance, thanked all competitors and sponsors: "This event has not only become a landmark for cyclists throughout the UK, but has become one of our most important fund-raising events.

"Many thanks to all the participating cyclists who are raising funds to help us keep the air ambulances flying. If you're tempted to compete, become one of our local heroes by setting yourself a sponsorship target and making it a special personal challenge.

"I must also thank the sponsors, because without the support of companies such as Chevron, Folly Farm, Ashmole and Co, FBM Holidays and Pembrokeshire Photography, it would not be possible for the event to take place," he added.
