Sir, I am researching the builders and masons of Tenby c.1820 - c.1950. My interest stems from the fact that my forebears - the Davies family - not only built much of 19th-century Tenby, but they were also plying their trade as builders/masons long before the revival of the town as a Georgian resort.
During the 19th century, there was a large influx of tradespeople to serve the rapidly growing town, as is shown on the census returns. I suspect that I have barely scratched the surface of the subject, but my draft paper has kindly been placed by Tenby Historical Society on their website tenbyhistoricalsociety.org.uk.
I would be very grateful if interested readers could provide comments and additions (and corrections).
My email address is [email protected] The intention is to lodge a final copy on the website, Tenby Museum and the County Records Office.
