This (Friday) evening, Tenby Arts Club members will visit Oman. All under the guidance of courier Margaret Acors. Members are very lucky to have Margaret amongst their flock, for she is a real adventurer, stepping out to places where angels fear to tread, literally (writes P.M.).

For many years our speaker has taken the podium at meetings. Always from countries and zones where the British would like to visit, but quickly reject through trouble and strife.

Readers may raise querulous eyebrows at this, turning themselves into Chinese Mandarins in the process, but the fear factor is absolutely correct. Margaret does not know fear.

Your correspondent has visited quite a few of the hotspots around the world. All interesting for sure. Has also ventured into war zones and countries with much discontent. Always though, I found hidden gems, but had little time to digest them, fearing always the approach of the firing squad. Crocodiles, too, once in Africa.

This sort of thing limits people's ambitious and so if Tenby folk wish to acquaint themselves with a bit of the unknown, St. Johns Church Hall, Warren Street, at 7.30 pm this evening, is the place to be.

The Sultunate of Oman has changed much in recent years. No longer just camel safaris, goats milk in gourds and presentation dates in Christmas boxes. Today it has oil and has advanced (by Tenby standards) to the 22nd century. Changes all made at a fast and furious pace; so modern day adventurers may miss the charms of yesteryear. But with Margaret Acors at the helm the mystique of yesteryear will be very evident.

She has a camera, as do we all, but our speaker's efforts will shame lay people like your correspondent who after one showing by Margaret Acors cast his Box Brownie to the poor boys via Oxfam, Margaret will snap exquisite corners. Exquisite arts too. She will see things that only the more refined can observe. Simply she is educated in perception.

Nobody should be absent from tonight's fare. Far too good to miss. Also not everybody can afford to traipse to exotic places. After this evening they will understand the mysteries of the East at peanut cost.

The best snapper. The best traveller. The bravest too. All before you tonight at the Arts Club. Margaret Acors.

Membership is only £10 per annum with some 20 meetings per season. Members pay £2 at the door. Non members are rooked with £4 per session.

Come to our meetings. Become a member. A no-brainier really. Though the Arts Club knows a good brain when it sees one. Meet Margaret Acors.

A news snippet has just been passed to me. The scheduled speaker for one week hence, January 30, is unable to be with us, unfortunately. However the Rev. Chris Tolley, the incumbent of St. Johns, has agreed to step in. Your correspondent does not yet know the theme for the evening, but as a highly educated man there will be depth. More information in next week's press.
