Sir, The various Tenby groups on Facebook currently receive a number of requests daily from visitors and prospective visitors asking for information on where to eat, drink, park, stay, entertain kids in the rain, etc., in Tenby and Pembrokeshire.

Thanks to the generosity of time and experience of members of the boards, helpful advice is dispensed 99 per cent of the time.

But the constant requests show how Pembrokeshire County Council have made a mistake in closing the Tourist Information Centre here, and not running - with Visit Wales - a constantly updated website to help our guests.

I appreciate that the county council have had to make cutbacks at present due to Covid, but if ever there was a case that they should drop any plans they may have to use this as an excuse not to re-open the TIC next year (which I suspect is their intention) one glance at the volume of queries on the message boards will show them how wrong this would be, and how the town and surrounding area would benefit from the resumption of a professional, co-ordinated service to people around the world who wish to come to Tenby and Pembrokeshire.

We need to put pressure on Tenby Town Council and Pembrokeshire County Council and re-open our tourist information services as soon as possible.

Lawrence Hourahane,

Tenby
