As featured in last week's issue, watch manager Dicky Lewis, crew manager Martin Hurlow and firefighter Gwyn Jones - three of Tenby's longest serving firefighters - have retired after serving MAWWFRS for a combined 115 years.
Dicky (39.5 years service) and Martin (34.5 years service) said farewell to Tenby Fire Station and the remaining crew for the last time last week. Gwyn, who served MAWWFRS for 41 years, retired earlier this summer.
The trio were presented with long service plaques for their outstanding contribution at Tenby Fire Station open day, and carnival held last month, by Clr. Wynne Evans, from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority.
In attendance at the station last week to bid them a fond farewell were colleagues past and present, including Assistant Chief Fire Officer Derek Masson, County Commander Steve Bryant, Canon Rev. Illtyd Protheroe, chairman of the Fire Authority Roy Llewellyn and member Clr. Wynne Evans, station manager Dai Hancock, watch manager Chris Lawrence and all crew members from the station.
ACFO Derek Masson said: "On behalf of the service, I would like to thank wholeheartedly Dicky, Martin and Gwyn for their outstanding contribution to the service. They have been an enormous asset to the community of Tenby throughout so many years, and they will be sorely missed by service personnel and members of the community alike. I would like to wish them all the very best in their well-earned retirement."
