Eleven-year-old Sabrina Morgan from Tenby has been granted a music scholarship at Wells Cathedral School in Somerset. She will begin the January term.

Wells Cathedral School is one of only four specialised music schools in England and Wales which offers government funded grants for gifted musicians under their Music and Dance Scheme (MDS).

Students from 14 different countries currently attend the school.

Sabrina had the almost unprecedented good fortune to have been selected for admission on the same day as her first and only audition.

She'll be taught piano by Professor John Byrne, head of keyboards in Wells Cathedral School and also a senior lecturer at The Royal College of Music, London.

Sabrina has been taught piano by Jan Hartzell, a Royal College graduate from Saundersfoot, since she was four.

Sabrina has also had special tuition from Ann Martin-Davis, also a lecturer in the Royal College of Music junior department and an established concert pianist.
