This year’s RNLI Mayday Appeal in Tenby was the most successful ever, and thanks must go to all those committee members who worked so hard, and particularly to shop manager, Doreen Mortimer, who raised a magnificent £144 by raffling one of the sought-after RNLI teddy bears. Coxswain Phil John drew the winning ticket belonging to a lucky lady called Joyce. It is very fitting that Doreen was honoured to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace last month. Very well deserved indeed.

On the last Saturday in May, a cake stall was held in the Boat House, which proved very popular with visitors and locals alike, some making the trip around Castle Hill just to treat themselves to some of the delicious cakes on offer. These included, of course, Doreen’s famous scones. £110 was made, and once again, thanks go to all who made cakes and helped run the stall.

Together with the sale of Yellow Welly badges, and the proceeds of the Yellow Welly Hunt and street collection, this brought the total for Mayday month in Tenby to over £1,000. Well done to all those who supported in any way.

What makes it so important has been obvious over the past few weeks as both lifeboats have had a very busy start to the season and it is so important that our brave crew are kitted out in the very best that is available.

The next event is the not to be missed strawberry cream tea on the Harbour on Sunday, July 16, from 2 pm, with the Annual Sea Sunday service at 3 pm on the same day outside St. Julian’s Church. All are very welcome to join for a very special afternoon.
