Tenby’s oldest resident has sadly passed away at the age of 104.

Much-loved lifelong resident of the seaside town, Mrs. Eluned Ethel Louisa Brown passed away peacefully at her home in Church Park on Saturday (February 26).

Beloved wife of the late Kenneth, much-loved mother of Tony, Christine, David, Susan and Anthea, mother-in-law of Kathleen and Rachel, cherished grandmother of Jonathan, Robert, David, Katherine, Richard, Kate, Michael, Holly, Amy and Nick, great-grandmother of Emily, Koyuki, Amelie, Billie, Kobie and Frankie, she will be sadly missed.

A lifelong member of St. Johns Church (formerly the Congregational), Eluned’s grandparents were married in the church, as were her parents, and she married Ken there, to whom she was married for 60 years. Three of her children also kept up the tradition by marrying there.

Eluned served as a deacon in St. Johns for 40 years, was the first woman church secretary, and was secretary of the Women’s Fellowship for 30 years. In addition, she was pianist for the Junior Church, was a member of the choir, of the Cymrodorion Society, and has helped organise coffee mornings and church fetes for many years.

Well known throughout Tenby, Eluned was even able to venture out last year ahead of her 104th birthday in April to catch a glimpse of Wally the Walrus, joining the crowds on Castle Hill.

The funeral service will take place on Friday, March 11 at Parc Gwyn Crematorium at 10.45 am followed by a memorial service at St John’s Church, Tenby at 12 noon.

There will be family flowers only, donations if desired, can be made payable to either ‘Ty Hafan’ or ‘St John’s Church’ c/o Funeral Directors W & M J Rossiter & Sons Ltd, The Old Rectory, The Norton, Tenby, or Landsker House, 21 Station Road, Narberth, SA67 7DR.
