After a recent Inspection by Estyn, Tenby VC Infants School had a 'good' outcome for current performance and 'good' outcome for prospects for improvement. The headteacher, staff, pupils and governors were very pleased with the positive comments made during the Inspection. The inspectors were impressed with the warm welcome and ambience of the school, and that teachers have high expectations of the pupils. The school provides a wide range of activities in and after school, which supports pupils' learning experiences well, and the performance at the end of Foundation Phase assessments compares well with that of similar schools. The headteacher has a strong, clear vision for the school, and is ably supported by the deputy headteacher and senior leaders who work well together to provide the school with a sense of purpose. The strong team ethos in the school, supports working together to provide good intervention programmes provided by teaching assistants and the additional needs learning co-ordinator throughout the Foundation Phase. Pupils with additional learning needs make good progress in line with their ability. The school has a well-established team ethos where members of staff are valued highly and governors are very supportive of the school. There is an excellent partnership with parents, and this is a particular strength of the school. All pupils feel valued and engage well in their learning. The school plans well for the delivery of literacy and numeracy skills. However, there is a need to increase opportunity for developing pupils' ICT skills. Second language Welsh is developing well throughout the school, with a positive impact. The Tenby community holds the school in high regard, where pupils regularly participate in community initiatives such as Tenby in Bloom, the town library, Tour de Tenby bike ride, and regular services in St. Mary's Church. The local parish supports the values education effectively. The school provides a good wraparound care facility, and a breakfast club which supports working parents well. The action plan has been completed and submitted to the LA for monitoring. There is no follow up visit from Estyn.
