Tenby AFC Under 10s continued their winning ways at summer soccer tournaments, with victory in Camrose on Sunday. The group stages were played in bright sunshine, with a strong Tenby team topping a mini-league of seven teams, with five wins and a draw. They then met local rivals Clarbeston Road in the final. Despite a heavy downpour, swirling wind and tired legs on both sides, the final produced some excellent football from two of the best teams in the county. A talented Clarbeston Road side started the final in a higher gear, and goalkeeper Daniel Evans had to pull off two vital saves in the opening minutes to keep Tenby in it. However, defenders Owen Coombs and Tom Harries were in fanastic form at the back. They soaked up the early pressure and the Seasiders soon seized the intiative, with Declan Escott and Lloyd Hughes always looking dangerous as they ran and passed their way through a tiring Clarbie defence. A cracking goal from Scott Ferney soon gave Tenby the lead and Dylan Rees sealed victory with a quick second. A special mention for Spencer Williams, who started in impressive form at Camrose, but missed the closing group games due to an ankle injury. He is wished a speedy recovery. Thanks also to Nicky Rees, who stepped in to referee several games on behalf of the club. On Saturday, July 28, the Under 10s were also runners-up in the Pennar Robins tournament. After battling through tough group games, Tenby beat St. Clears in the semis and competed well in a fiercely fought final against Lamphey, which finished 0-0. The game was still goalless after extra-time and went to a sudden death penalty shoot-out, with Lamphey eventually taking home the silverware. The boys can now enjoy a couple of weeks well- earned rest before the final tournament of the summer in St. Clears on August 26.
