A trio of Tenby churches are benefiting from Lent's spirit of abstinence to help desperate people all over the world.

St. Johns, the Salvation Army and St. Mary's have been holding frugal lunches for the last few weeks.

On offer for £5 is soup, a roll and a cuppa. All are welcome.

This year, Tenby's branch of Christian Aid is hoping to shatter the previous record of £1,500.

The fourth lunch takes place on Wednesday, March 18, at St. Mary's Church House from noon - 2 pm.

The final two frugal meals are at the Salvation Army Headquarters on March 25 and April 1.

Money raised will go to refugees and families afflicted by illness and hunger. All faiths are included.

Malcolm Stacey, Christian Aid Tenby secretary, said; "This has become an annual event which many people in Tenby look forward to. As they tuck in, it's heart-warming for the frugal diners to know that all the money raised will go straight to people who just do not have enough money to eat properly."

Anyone who hasn't time to lunch is invited to leave a donation at the doors or with the Christian Aid secretary at 9 Crackwell Street.
