Tenby Town Council is set to advance its 'People, Places and Spaces' project with further community activities, including organising a Gardens of Tenby meeting, and plans to live stream concerts and events from St Mary’s Church.

At the Town Council’s September meeting, a proposal was put to members by Cllr Laurence Blackhall to convene a meeting of the Gardens of Tenby group and to invite all individuals, groups and organisations who are currently supporting the maintenance of gardens in the town, along to discussions.

Cllr Skyrme-Blackhall told members that the Time for Tenby group has exceptional volunteers made up of both holidaymakers and locals.

She said that recent work in Brother Thomas’ garden on Crackwell Street, which overlooks the North Beach and Harbour has seen an utter transformation of the area; with further work to continue ready for next Easter, and the garden to remain closed over winter whilst more work takes place.

A look at the design, with a view to the garden being sensory, contemplative and calm - an oasis in the hustle and bustle was the aim.

Cllr Skyrme-Blackhall said that TTC would look at funding bids towards further work.

The Time For Tenby community litter picks around the town and on the beaches would also continue on Saturdays, she added.

Cllr Blackhall said that the Town Council would further to agree any other remaining actions to complete the first stage of the People, Places and Spaces project.

“With the support of People, Places and Spaces project and EPF, Tenby Town Council is engaging more than ever with the community, by evidence of way we now work, which is hugely positive,” he told his colleagues.

“There are just two parts of the project to complete.

“A further part of the project includes mapping benches, allocate each bench with unique reference number QR code, set up a data base, using OS mapping tools free to town councils.

“We will write a process with clear instructions and use money to buy equipment and QR codes stickers or plaques.

“Organisations assisting will be able to get some financial support as a thanks. Volunteers and voluntary organisations to get everything mapped; and completed before the end of year,” he continued.

Cllr Blackhall also rasied the second part of the project, which is to equip St Mary’s Church so it has the ability to live stream concerts and events taking place there.

He declared his interest as his circumstances have now changed since the outset of the project when funding was approved.

St David’s Cathedral will advise as it has a similar set up.

It was suggested that perhaps equipment could be mobile. There is enough budget for microphones for this room as was part of original scheme.

Monies are to be spent by December including capital equipment. Contributions have been made already as wi-fi and audio system has been upgraded.

The proposals were seconded by the Mayor, Cllr Dai Morgan; and that a meeting be arranged soon in order to move forward.
