Sir,
During our annual family stay in the Tenby area this year, we were left somewhat dismayed by the introduction of a 20p charge per visit to the public conveniences in Tenby. One of our children needs to use the toilet frequently, so our visits to the town centre proved to be difficult as we were unprepared for the number of 20p coins that we would need.
Having used the facilities near the multi-storey car park, our daughter said that they were not particularly clean, and the ones near the beach were dirty and dark (so she did not use those ones again). I really would expect the toilets to be well cared for at the least, in view of the cost.
I am obviously unaware of the thinking that was behind the introduction of these charges, but it certainly put us off visiting Tenby as a family.
Dr. C. Beer,
Felsted Close,
