The animated scene above was published by Dyfed Federation of Women’s Institutes in conjunction with Judges of Hastings. The photograph was taken by Mrs. A. Rich, St. Florence W.I., and clearly shows the Waverley paddle steamer which is the last sea-going passenger-carrying steamer in the world. Built in 1946, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973. She was bought by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society and was restored to her 1947 appearance and now operates passenger excursions around the British coast. - Albie Smosarski, Cofion Bookshop, Tenby.
