The generosity of Tenby worshippers has been praised by the Singing for Syrians charity which benefited from a £1,500 donation collected at St. Mary’s Church.

Simon Hart MP joined forces with the church to raise money in partnership with The Hands Up Foundation who work with small, efficient and local projects in and around Syria.

The Tenby event was one of more than 80 concerts held across the country which saw a total of £103,500 raised for medical teams on the ground in Syria, a special needs school in rural Damascus and a prosthetic limb clinic in the region.

Mr. Hart said: “We were delighted that the collection held at the concert made £770 and we were then even more thrilled when the church very generously agreed to double the donation.

“Singing for Syrians is a fantastic initiative that I am very proud to support. It is a positive way of helping Syria’s most vulnerable people, whose lives have been ruined by the civil war. Paying the salaries of the brave medical staff who risk everything to provide life-saving treatment is one way that we can make a real difference to the victims of this terrible crisis.”
