The annual general meeting of the Tenby Talking Newspaper took place on Monday, November 17, at the Methodist Chapel, Saundersfoot.

Chairperson, Eva Rich, welcomed everyone, and in the unavoidable resignation of the secretary, John Harris, Jean Frobel was duly elected as secretary and then took the Minutes. A letter of thanks would be sent to John for his support as a reader and secretary over the past five years.

Eva thanked the five teams for all their hard work in producing the Tenby Talking Newspaper each week, with special thanks to the co-ordinator, Jean Roberts, for taking care of the administration so meticulously, but also adding thanks to Newman Vincent, who had taken over during Jean's recent operations and recovery periods.

Margaret Walker also added her thanks together with that of all the visually impaired recipients, saying how much everyone appreciated and enjoyed receiving the local news each week.

The treasurer's report revealed a fairly healthy balance, although money would be needed in the future when it was necessary to go digital, but for the time being the tapes would continue to be used.

The election of officers resulted in everyone continuing in post, with the five team leaders, Philippa Giles, Newman Vincent, Bob Storey, Jean Frobel and Howard Griffiths being happy to continue.

Currently, the Tenby Talking Newspaper is sent out to some 50 visually impaired people, but if anyone has difficulty reading the paper please contact anyone mentioned above for further information.

Thanks also go to the Editor of the Tenby Observer for allowing its transcription into an audio format, and to the Post Office staff for their assistance with delivering each week. Saundersfoot Rotary Club members were also thanked for their assistance with deliveries over Christmas and Bank Holidays.

Eva concluded by saying that the system worked well, and it was hard to believe that the Tenby Talking Newspaper had now been available for nine years.
