THREE Tenby students have been selected to play for the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.
Viola player Jo Cooper was one of 50 members of the orchestra to play alongside players of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at a recent performance workshop and studio sessions in Broadcasting House in Cardiff, performing Respighi's 'The Pines of Rome' and Berlioz' 'Roman Carnival Overture'. Jo is a student of Mr. Richard Tiller.
Already known for her skills as an actress, Miranda Rees, after a performance on Easter Sunday in St. David's Cathedral, is now fast becoming one of the best young oboe and cor' anglais players in the country. Miranda is a student of Mr. Simon Gratton.
'Cellist, Gaby Herrick is one of the youngest students to be invited to play for NYOW and recently played on the orchestra's Easter Tour, performing in a programme of Tchaikovsky's 'Romeo and Juliet', Strauss' 'Horn Concerto' and Dvorak's 'Symphony No.8'. Gaby is a student of the late Ken Hewlings and Nicky Thomas.
