Preparations continue for a special charity fishing auction in Tenby, in memory of local Christopher ‘Faddy’ Thomas.

Two annual memorial events to raise money in memory of Faddy were set up earlier this year, following his sad passing last summer - combining the two things that he loved in life the most - rugby and fishing.

Faddy was a huge character and was never more at home than when down the harbour, or out on his boat catching bass.

With the memorial named the The Kick and Catch Tenby - a successful charity/memorial rugby match was staged at Heywood Lane on Easter Sunday; and now its the turn of the fishing competition, which will take place on Sunday, July 13, at the The Hope & Anchor.

There will be prizes for: Heaviest Bass; Heaviest bass by junior rod holder; Best species landed.

All catches will be auctioned and sold to the highest bidder, with special prizes donated by VIPs and local business owners.

Fishing will be held all day with a requirement of all fish to be back at The Hope and Anchor by 6.30 pm.

The weigh-in, auction and raffle will take place from that time and continue up to 10 pm.

Registration forms are available from The Hope and Anchor, for entrants to sign up in advance.

All vessels and rod holders taking part, must be registered and have paid in order to weigh-in their catch.

Fishing can also take place from the beach/rocks not just from boats at sea.

Vessels and rod holders must follow the Welsh fisheries law and guidance on Bass fishing.

The ‘catch’ must have been caught on the day of the competition to be entered at the weigh in.

Due to an expected large attendance for the event, Pembrokeshire County Council have confirmed a road closure to all vehicular traffic (including pedal cycles) for Tudor Square and St Julians Street, between 6.30 and 10.30 pm, on the day.

As Faddy received ongoing treatment from the Bristol Heart Institute for many years, money raised from the events is going towards the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity (formerly Above & Beyond) which is doing great things to improve the health and happiness of every patient in all 10 of the UHBW hospitals.

The money you donate to Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity makes a real difference to the lives of millions of patients who need and use our hospitals.

Faddy’s friends hope that the funds for the Bristol Heart Institute, will help the charity to continue to make an impact and improve the lives of people as they did with Faddy.

The charity goes above and beyond to transform patients experiences and their environments. They fund world-class tech, research and champion equal access for all patients.

They have aimed to raise a collective target of £5,000 from both memorial events.
