A Race for Life, organised by St. Teilo’s School in Tenby has raised over £4,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Unfortunately, the initial event was postponed last year due to the pandemic, but the students were encouraged to wear fancy dress if they wanted to and throughout the day on June 11, with each class taking its turn to run around the school playground eight times! Members of staff took part, too - although the children were much quicker!
“We already knew that members of the school and the wider community had been touched by cancer in some way, however, we had no idea that our lovely, small school would come together to raise over £4,300,” said a spokesperson for the school.
“The money was raised online as well as in cash and once we had counted the final amount, we were amazed, humbled and extremely grateful for the generosity of everyone connected to St. Teilo’s!
“We are so proud of the children and we expect this figure to rise, as we still have money coming in.”
