Six Nations Rugby
The club will be open for the final round of Six Nations rugby. Why not come down to watch the matches on our big screen and relax in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Junior Training Day and Racing Rules Evening
The WYA Regional Open Training day was a great success, with 20 youngsters turning out for a full days sailing last Saturday at Tenby. The weather conditions were perfect (other than the temperature). The club had four safety boats on the water thanks to all the winter preparation beforehand. Many thanks to all the helpers on and off the water. It certainly got the club off to a flying start for its sailing season.
The rules quiz was well attended. The format was very simple. Various sailing situations were submitted and the participating groups were asked to deliver judgement based on sailing rules. There were some interesting interpretations, but with the knowledge of principal race officer Blake Shaw and senior race officer Mark Dashfield, a consensus was reached. Many thanks to Paul Redford for organising the event which proved very useful indeed.
Club Race
Officer Forum
An evening of instruction and discussion regarding the role of the club race officer will be held on the evening of Saturday, March 27. All members and friends are invited to attend a shore-based insight into running club races, including course setting, start sequences and recording results. Come and enjoy this light-hearted refresher course and then test your skills on the water on Sunday, March 28 (see below). Further details from Blake Shaw on 842535.
Volunteer Day
A volunteer day will be held on Sunday, March 28. By popular demand, the club is again running a day of volunteer training in all aspects of on shore and on the water activities. These include safety boat preparation; tractor driving and towing; basic and advanced safety boat handling; mark laying and course setting; capsize righting and towing etc. Put all the theory learnt the previous evening into practice and learn to drive the brand new Blue Duck II. Turn up at 10 am on Sunday. Further details can be obtained from Mark Dashfield on 844918.
Volunteers form

Please complete, stating your interests, and return as soon as possible to Mark Dashfield. The club is extremely proud and recognises the important role of our volunteers: come and join the Tenby Sailing Club Team in these very worthwhile activities which are great fun. Without you, the club could not begin to operate its multitude of activities!
Club Racing
Members please note - the first club race is on Sunday, April 4. The full fixture list is available on the website and the cards are being sent out shortly
Junior Fund-raising
As mentioned last week, chairman, vice-commodore Mark Brace, was very encouraged by the turnout at the meeting held last month where several ideas for fund-raising were adopted.
Further information on these events will be published in the next newsletter.
As a follow up, there will be a social evening, including some lovely nosh, held on Thursday, March 25, commencing at 6 pm. This is intended to give members the opportunity to get together and talk about the junior sailing programme prior to the registration evenings which will take place on the evenings of April 7 and April 14.
We look forward to a successful and progressive season of junior sailing.
