Junior Sail training
The final Wednesday sail training session was well attended. Principal trainer, Blake Shaw, has been impressed with the progress made by the club's juniors. All were treated to the usual legendary barbecue prepared by Karen Morris, Julia Dashfield and Jane Stuart-Walwin. BBQ king Terry Evans would like to thank all members who have contributed to the success of the summer culinary delights.
Junior sailing will continue on the four Sunday mornings in October, commencing this Sunday, October 5, in the form of a series of short races. Turn up time around 9.30, with races starting at 11 am.
Sunday sailing
The 2008 summer season for dinghies came to an end on Sunday, the last race of the year being cancelled due to poor visibility. The overall winner for the Cornish Down Bowl was Nick Berridge, who has sailed his Phantom to a consistently high standard all year. This, coupled with a number of wins in June and July, put him firmly at the top of table. A late surge by last year's winner closed the gap to three points which would have made for an exciting last race.
The 2008 season has turned out six different race winners from the 29 races completed; unfortunately a total of nine races were lost due to the weather. The average wind strength was force 3 and the direction was evenly split, with the most regular directions being North, South and West.
The Frostbite series starts this Sunday. Will all sailors please note the change in start time to 11 am. A safety boat rota is being drawn up this week. Please contact Daniel Jackson on 813397 as soon as possible to let him know your available dates.
Top 10 overall summer results: 1. Nick Berridge 26 pts; 2. Daniel Jackson 29; 3. Mike Stace 36; 4. Paul Evenden 41; 5. Ted Lewis 45; 6. Ed Dashfield 51; 7. Rolly Squibbs 59; 8. Paul Redford 59; 9. Alastair Knibb 72; 10. Mark Dashfield 75.
Many thanks to helpers for making the season possible and of course congratulations to the new club champion, Nick Berridge.

Surprise, surprise, we lost. The opposition proved too strong, but the evening was an excellent social event. This evening we are away to Cresselly Cricket Club - another very hospitable venue. Participating members please note.
