Sail Training

Yet another huge turnout eagerly took to the water under the keen eye of instructors Blake Shaw and Mark Dashfield. As mentioned last week, the success of these Wednesday sessions has meant a greater demand on personnel. Should any parent and/or member be in a position to help, please sign up. All were treated to the universally acclaimed Terry Evans BBQ, ably assisted by Karin Morris and Julia Dashfield. Apologies to Julia for omitting her name in last week's article - age is playing a major factor with my memory. Racing

Wednesday attracted the usual band of intrepid sailors. Racing was the usual close format, with the final 1-2-3 as follows: 1. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing; 2. Ted Lewis in a Phantom; 3. Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson in a Wayfarer. Racing was attempted on Sunday, but the distinct lack of wind meant an early abandonment. However, the day was not lost as the 'cruise in company' attracted a plethora of members in a variety of craft. Conditions were ideal for a trip to Barafundle bay, where an afternoon of socialising took place. All agreed the day had been a huge success in perfect conditions. Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the first of the Tenby Sailing Club v Saundersfoot Sailing Club series of races held at Monktone. If last year's turnout is repeated, then we are in for a fine series of races. Please note the first race is at 4 pm. Racing as usual this Sunday.

Cruiser Success

It's very pleasing to note a series of successes for John Griffiths in yacht Tejeda. In the recent series of evening races on the Haven, John came second overall. He also secured a win in division three in the County Regatta and a win in division four in the PHYC Regatta. Well done to John and his crew members, Roger Shorter and Jeff Powell.

Merlin Rockets National Championships

As mentioned last week, the club is delighted to host the Merlin Rockets National Championships during the second week in August (5 -13). It takes a great deal of organisation by several key members of the club. Inevitably, assistance is required both on and off the water. Should any member and friend be in a position to help in any way, please contact commodore, Daniel Jackson, on 813397. We thank you in anticipation.
