Sail Training

Yet another large turnout for Wednesday's sail training kept instructors Blake Shaw and Mark Dashfield very busy. The feedback from senior instructor, Blake Shaw, is very positive indeed. It won't be long before some of these young trainees can start racing. Racing also took place, which attracted the usual fleet. The commodore, Daniel Jackson, stole the show in his RS600, while Mike Stace and Deanna Morton came second in a Redwing. All participants were treated to the universally acclaimed Terry Evans BBQ, ably assisted by the culinary prowess of Karin Morris. The adult training session on Saturday afternoon was also very well attended, with Daniel Jackson overseeing procedures. The enthusiasm shown by these trainees bodes well for the club. Jonathan Morris, a member of our junior section, is lying 12th in the CYRC series. Well done Jonathan - keep it up!

Great news! The divine GP14 is back. A brisk breeze in glorious sunshine provided ideal conditions for a most enjoyable race. Rhys Thomas set a course in keeping with the conditions. The race turned out to be a battle between the leaders, Ted Lewis in a Phantom and Paul Evenden in a Wayfarer. There was also a close encounter between Terry Evans in the blessed GP14 and Colin Parmenter in an Enterprise. The final 1-2-3 was as follows: Ted Lewis in a Phantom; Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson in a Wayfarer; Neil Thomas in a Laser The race between the GP14 and the Enterprise ended in a victory for the divine craft by 14 seconds. Terry and Colin would like to thank their new crews, Simon and Mark, for their efforts. Battle will resume on Wednesday.
