As the previous week, the inclement weather prevented any sailing for the trainees attending the third area WYA race training session at Tenby. Nevertheless there was plenty to do ashore, with the various groups taking part in land based activities organised by the WYA instructor, David Lesley.
The activities included flag recognition and their uses, knots and an egg race. All agreed that, despite the weather, the day had been a very productive one. Thanks again to Anne Hutchings and Sheila Spiller for keeping all who attended fed and watered.
As last Sunday, the weather prevented sailing, much to the disappointment of the usual band of eager sailors. Hopefully there will be sailing as normal this Sunday.
The social side continues to flourish. Would members and friends please note the following immediate dates:
Saturday, February 9 - Quiz; Saturday, February 16 - St. Valentine's Supper; Monday, February 25 - Quiz evening in aid of Tenby Rainbows; Saturday, March 2 - Cheese and Cawl Evening; Sunday, March 10 - Mother's Day Lunch; Saturday, March 16 - Members' Culinary Evening; Saturday, March 30 - Easter Carvery.
JAZZ
EVENING
The Greenhill Jazz Band again entertained a very appreciative audience. They seem to get better and better under the leadership and guidance of Mr. Neil Martin. All who attended agreed that these talented youngsters should be asked to return in the spring! Again, thank you Greenhill.
QUIZ EVENING (FEBRUARY 9)
Another opportunity to tease your brain cells. All are welcome, so why not come down and join us in an 'intellectual' evening in warm and convivial surroundings. Question master Terry Evans assures me that the questions will not be demanding - the evening is about having some fun and a laugh!
ST. VALENTINE'S SUPPER (FEBRUARY 16)
Bookings are now being taken for this culinary delight. Please contact Anne Hutchings on 842817 to make your reservation. Anne informs me that there are still a few places left. What's on offer? A four-course meal in romantic surroundings and the chance to win various prizes in the evening's raffle. Don't miss this opportunity to spoil your loved one! Go on! Go on!
There are two more culinary experiences on the near horizon.
1. Mother's Day lunch - bookings will soon be taken. Don't miss this opportunity to take mum out for a lovely meal in superb surroundings. More next week!
2. Member's evening - this is a departure from the usual proceedings. A member will host the evening putting on cuisine of an international flavour. More next week!
DARTS
The B team narrowly lost to the Chemist B. All matches were keenly contested, indeed the result could easily have been different if our finishing was up to scratch. Consequently, there will be a practice session at the club as there are no matches timetabled for this evening - members please note!
SUBSCRIPTIONS
It's that time of year again. Would members please note that the annual subscriptions are now due. Prompt payment would be appreciated. For further details, please contact Sheila Spiller on 812325.
Finally, anyone wishing to join this warm and friendly club should contact any member who will be pleased to supply further information. We look forward to meeting you.
