Firstly, profuse apologies to Alistair Mackay. I did not thank him in last week's article for all his efforts during the Merlin Rockets Championships. Alistair played a vital part in the success of the week by processing and posting the results each day. He did the job superlatively - many thanks Alistair.
The Redwings recently held their National Championships at Fishguard. Tenby had four representatives who did very well in a very competitive field.
Rolly Squibbs and Tim Brace won the first race, eventually finishing fourth overall. Bill Dowell and Nick Ward came eighth, Mike Stace and Deanna Morton came ninth and Dave Bowen and Helen Williams came 16th. The event was won by Bud Coote and Tim Jackson, of Looe Sailing Club.
All agreed that the week had been a great success and looked forward to meeting in Tenby next year.
Sunday's racing was contested mainly by the RS700s, with Daniel Jackson taking the honours. The fans of the divine GP14 will be delighted to hear that it will be back in action for the next race.
Saundersfoot's round Caldey race was a great success, with the RS700s of Steve Stubbs, Gareth Morgan and Daniel Jackson finishing ahead of the fleet. This is a testimony to the speed of the new types of dinghy. Well done and many thanks to Saundersfoot.
In the recent RS700 National Championships, the club members fared very well, with Gareth Morgan coming fourth, Steve Stubbs sixth and Daniel Jackson ninth out of a very large field. Congratulations and well done!
