This weekend, the club is holding its annual Regatta. This has always been a well attended event with sailors from near and far taking part. This year we are delighted to host HTV Wales who will be filming on and off the water during tomorrow's (Saturday's) racing. Let us hope for fair winds and sunshine. If any member is able to help in any way on or off the water, please contact Blake Shaw on 842535 as soon as possible.
Club racing has been enthusiastically contested as usual. Wednesday's race was keenly contested by a large turnout. The final results were: 1. Steve Stubbs, RS700; 2. Rolly Squibbs, Redwing; 3. Daniel Jackson, RS700; 4. Mike Stace, Redwing.
Saturday's cruiser race took part in at least a force five/six, with helms debating whether to reef or not. Two laps round the 'cans' provided exciting sailing with the crews having their work cut out. The eventual first three placings were: 1. Ted and Dan Lewis, Hawke; 2. Blake Shaw and Terry Evans, Slipstream; 3. Steve Lewis, Lew Cooper, Aries.
There were only 38 seconds between the first two. Well done Ted.
Sunday's dinghy racing was again very keenly contested, with the Redwings stealing the show. The final first three placings were: 1. Rolly Squibbs and Alistair Mackay, Redwing; 2. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton, Redwing; 3. Luke Smith, 505.
Welcome back Luke. Another notable success by a Redwing was by Bill Dowell and Nan D'Ortez who won the Sunday race in Solva's Regatta by a large margin. Considering the field of much faster boats, this was a superb achievement. Well done Bill.
Wednesday's training session is increasing in popularity with regular large turnouts. We could do with some more helpers. If any parent or member can lend a hand, please contact Blake Shaw on 842535 or turn up around 6 pm.
This (Friday) evening, the club is hosting the Greenhill PTA barbecue when the Greenhill Jazz Band will be playing. Good food and foot-tapping music in convivial surroundings - what more could you ask for?
As well as Sheila Spiller and Anne Hutching's regular culinary spots, there is food available most evenings. Should any member wish a tasty meal during the week, our club steward will be delighted to accommodate you.
Anyone who is interested in joining this warm and thriving club should contact any member who will be pleased to offer further information. We look forward to meeting you.
