INTREPID SAILORS RETURN

On Saturday evening the clubhouse was resounding with tall stories related by four club members who had just returned from an adult voyage on the new STA Tall Ship, Prince William, working as deck hands, in the gallery, up the masts, etc, etc.

Peter Bolwell, Lewis Cooper, Peter Hicks and Blake Shaw had obviously thoroughly enjoyed their experience. The boat sailed from Waterford in Ireland, called at Cork then off towards Cornwall, finally docking at Milford Haven on Friday evening.

Whilst on board Blake Shaw made a video diary of the trip - there will be an evening's viewing of the video shortly when all are welcome - watch this space.

If any youngsters (or adults) are interested in joining these voyages please contact Blake Shaw on 842535 for further details.

GP12 WINS!

Unbelievable as it sounds, the divine GP14 recorded a win on its first outing of the season. Its fans will be ecstatic and the celebrations will go on for weeks. Whist the main body of the club's sailors were competing in Saundersfoot Coppet Hall Week, those remaining raced on Sunday morning as usual. The GP14 saw its chance of a rare success and was successful! The final positions were:

1. Terry Evans and Graham Morris in the Divine GP14.

2. Jonathon Lewis in a Topper.

3. Ed Dashfield in a RS400.

Graham Morris was one of the new recruits resulting from our "Come and Try" weekend.

Conditions on Sunday were hairy at times which was in contrast to the previous weekend when the potential new recruits experienced very light wind indeed.

The Wednesday training is proving very popular. Hopefully some of these enthusiastic youngsters will progress sufficiently to have a go at racing on Sundays. Many thanks to instructors Blake Shaw, Ed Dashfield and Nick Berridge for their support.

The social scene continues to flourish. On Saturday, June 9, there is a demonstration of Irish dancing at the club. Please come along and support these talented youngsters.

On Saturday, June 16, there is a Cream Teas afternoon - please support this innovative venture. Thanks to Sheila and Anne Hutchings for their efforts last weekend in feeding a multitude of ravenous revellers.

Anyone wishing to join this vibrant club should contact any member for further details. We look forward to meeting you.
