The "Come and Try" weekend was very successful.
Friday evening's session was land based with principal instructor, Blake Shaw explaining the rudiments of sailing to the band of enthusiastic trainees.
Saturday's conditions were perfect for learning to sail. There was sufficient breeze for the trainees to try out various sailing techniques without the fear of capsizing. Sunday's conditions were much lighter. The morning session was more a drift then a sail. The afternoon session saw the wind increase sufficiently to make it very enjoyable for all concerned.
Many thanks to all who made the weekend such a success.
This weekend several of our regular sailors are off to participate in Saundersfoot "Coppet Hall Week." We wish them every success.
During this week there is sailing this Sunday for those who remain.
A small band of lucky men had the opportunity to join other adults on the STA Tall ship, Prince William, sailing from Waterford to Milford via some unknown destination. The envious writer hopes they had a great time and looks forward to reporting any incidents etc next week.
Fans of the divine GP14 will be delighted to hear that its launch onto the new season is imminent. Watch this space!
The coffee morning was most enjoyable even though numbers were disappointing. Many thanks to Sheila Spillar and Anne Hutchings for their efforts. The next event will be Afternoon Cream Tea on June 16. Members and friends please note.
The club is ideally suited for events such as coffee morning and afternoon teas where folk can gather and while away some spare time with friends. What can be more inviting than sitting on the club balcony overlooking the picturesque harbour on a lazy, summer's day.
If this sounds inviting then please join us on the 16th for delicious cream teas. We look forward to meeting you.
