On Wednesday, May 3, the Year 6 children of Tenby Junior School had an early start in order to be able to enjoy a wonderful fun-packed day in Cardiff. The coach left bright and early, full of excited children, at around 7.50 am.

We arrived in Cardiff at around 10 o'clock and went straight into the Senedd Learning Centre. It was great, as we got to experience the life of an AM as we voted on suggestions for our community and how to change it.

Our tour guide then said: if you had £100,000, what would you change in your community? E.g. things such as recycling bins, youth clubs and sports fields for the children in the towns and villages.

We had to decide things that were most important for our community, but to still keep within our budget.

Next, we went to look at the chamber where the Assembly Members make their important decisions and have their important discussions.

The tour guide also told us about some things that the Senedd does.

The chamber is lit by the window above the centre by the sun shining through it. The rain water is caught in the grooves of the roof and is used to flush the toilets which the Assembly Members use.

They also have pipes that send cold water down under the ground, which gets heated up and then comes back up to provide heating for the building (very environmentally friendly!).

We got out of the Senedd and we ate our lunch just outside, from where we had a great view of the stunning Cardiff Bay. We finished our lunch and were taken to the old Welsh Assembly building. There we met Christine Gwyther, our local AM. We got to ask her lots of questions, like what her favourite part of her job was, who she liked working with, and what the Welsh Assembly Government are doing for the young people of Wales.

Later, we got to see the old debating chamber. However, we couldn't see it very well because the lights weren't on and no-one knew where the switch was.

At the end of the tour, we had to hand back the visitor tags we had received earlier at the Senedd Learning Centre. Then, to kill some time, we went into Marine Centre. We saw lots of things about Cardiff and its history.

Then we walked to where the bus was parked and got on it to travel to the Millennium Stadium. When we got there, we met our tour guide and he sat us down to watch a short film about the creation and the reason for the Millennium Stadium. Then the tour started.

First of all we got to go into the opposition's changing room. We sat in seats that the likes of Christiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Thierry Henry had sat in and got changed in.

We then left the changing rooms and walked out of the tunnel to the fake sounds of roaring fans. When we were walking round, the Welsh National Anthem was played into the stadium. We got to sit in the Royal Box and hold a replica of the Six Nations trophy.

At around 3.30 pm we climbed aboard the bus once more to travel back to Tenby. We arrived back at around 5.25pm. We had all had a brilliant day out in Cardiff viewing the new Senedd and other Welsh Assembly buildings and the famous Millennium Stadium.
