Tenby Post Office is finally due to seal its relocation in July after lockdown had delayed the facility’s move.

Tenby Stores and Post Office will be moving to the downstairs area of Ruabon House, on the South Parade opposite the town’s historic town walls on Friday, July 3, after initially holding back on relocating in March because of the coronavirus situation.

Postmasters Vince and Fiona Malone who have kept the post office and stores open at its current location on Warren Street over the pandemic - have been given high praise in the community for the services they have offered during the lockdown.

The new premises is being fully modernised into a Premier convenience store and Post Office with extended opening hours. The Ex-Servicemans Club will continue to operate above this Post Office.

“It’s a better location for us, it’s going to be much busier and we are going to have a better set-up for our post office and shop customers,” said Fiona.

At the new premises Post Office services will be provided from four serving positions. These will be a mixture of one screened and two open plan, and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter, offering selected services, during shop opening hours.

The new opening hours will be Monday to Saturday, from 8 am to 9 pm; and 9 am to 7.30 pm on Sunday - meaning there will be an extra 11 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service a week with earlier opening and later closing.

The current Post Office at Warren Street is due to close on Tuesday, June 30 at 5.30 pm with the new branch on South Parade opening on Friday, July 3 at 1 pm.

“The Postmaster has identified an opportunity to move this branch into these spacious, brighter and more modern premises, and believes that the move will help secure continued access to Post Office services locally, as well as supporting the viability of their business,” said a spokesperson for the Post Office.
