A collection of commemorative plaques in Tenby are in need of a spruce-up, local councillors have stated.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Will Rossiter told his colleagues that one particular plaque situated in Augustus Place was ‘seriously worn’.
“I live in Augustus Place and pass it every day, and can’t read it any longer as it’s so faded. I don’t know how much it would cost to be cleaned up, but perhaps the funds can be found,” he explained, with Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown agreeing.
Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas said a plaque leading up to Castle Hill recognising the freehold was unreadable too and in need of cleaning up.
“This plaque celebrates the fact that the council purchased Castle Hill in 1941, otherwise now it could be a millionaires community, but you can hardly read it, so it should be cleaned up as it is important to the town,” she said.
Clr. Trevor Hallett agreed that these plaques, along with one on the Jubilee that had also been neglected, needed looking at.
