While they liked the idea of developing two houses and six flats on land at the rear of 1 and 2 Clifton Rock, Gower House and Lloyds Bank in Crackwell Street, members of Tenby Town Council had reservations about pedestrian safety last week.

In considering the application by Messrs. Williams and Brooke Ltd., of Horizons, Rest Bay Close, Porthcawl, for recommendation to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, councillors felt that the development would be a visual improvement on the townscape in the area.

However, they had reservations about pedestrian safety on the street, preferring the buildings to be set back slightly from the carriageway to provide an escape route for people walking along the street.

Concern was also raised over the stability of the cliff and its ability to cope with such a development.

Among other planning applications considered were:

Mr. P. C. Whittaker, 7 Scotsborough View, Tenby - Extension to rear of garage (no objections).

Messrs. Williams and Brooke Ltd., Horizons, Rest Bay Close, Porthcawl - Demolition of outbuilding to rear of Gower House and Lloyds Bank, accessed from Crackwell Street (no objections).

Pembs. and Derwen NHS Trust, Estates Department, Withybush Hospital, Fishguard Road, Haverfordwest - Renewal of temporary planning permission NP/98/355 at Tenby Cottage Hospital, Trafalgar Road, Tenby (no objections to a three-year temporary consent).

Newlan Estates, Homeland, Valley Close, Valley Road, Saundersfoot - Construction of four private dwellings and access road on land adjacent to St. Mary's Hill, Tenby (no objections, but concerns are expressed over the use of the road by heavy plant during construction).

Tenby Masonic Lodge, South Parade, Tenby - Proposed first floor extension to rear of property (no objections).

Dr. and Mrs. K. O'Doherty, Tanglewood, Hill Park, Narberth Road, Tenby - Construction of conservatory as extension to dwelling (no objections).
