Tenby was featured on TV again last Friday on the BBC2 programme 'Put your money where your mouth is'.
James 'Bingo' Braxton and 'Devilish' David Harper pitted their wits, and cash, against each other in their efforts to raise money for charity by buying and reselling art and antiques.
One of the articles bought in Lincolnshire was a 1950s oil painting of Tenby by Ethel Harker, a member of the Liverpool Academy of Artists.
This summery painting was brought to Tenby by James Braxton and the view depicted from the Paragon towards St. Catherines was compared with the current view of the beach. Several shots of Tenby, including the horse drawn carriage, the harbour and various aspects of Upper Frog Street were shown before the painting was brought through the town to the White Lion Street Gallery.
Here followed discussion of the quality of the painting and a price negotiated between James Braxton and John Faulkner, partner in the gallery. Deal done and the film crew left, leaving the painting on display in the gallery.
The painting was sold after a couple of weeks, but here is a photograph of it with James Braxton (left) and John Faulkner.
